GOLD Coast's Steven May will undergo surgery on Saturday to repair a broken jaw suffered in an altercation with teammate Campbell Brown.

May saw a specialist late on Friday afternoon to assess the damage resulting from an incident with Brown in Los Angeles earlier this week.

Gold Coast football manager Marcus Ashcroft said the extent of the injury would be assessed during surgery.

It will then be determined when May will be available to return to training.

The Suns continued its investigation into the incident on Friday, with the remainder of the coaching staff and playing group returning from a 19-day training camp in the United States.

CEO Travis Auld confirmed on Friday the club was undergoing an investigation and would make no further comment until its completion.

A number of players are believed to have been present at the incident, without involvement, and will be spoken to.

The outcome is expected to take a number of days.
