PORT Adelaide has delisted former Hawthorn premiership ruckman Brent Renouf, but hopes to re-draft him as a rookie on November 27.

Renouf, who won a flag with the Hawks in 2008, struggled in 2013 after pre-season knee surgery and played five matches before undergoing another procedure in September.

The club also announced it had re-signed small forward Cameron Hitchcock and yet-to-debut midfielders Brendon Ah Chee and Ben Newton.

All three penned one-year deals.

Injuries kept Hitchock from challenging from a senior spot this season and while the club is excited by his speed and ability to finish when inside 50, senior coach Ken Hinkley said the forward needed a good year in 2014.

He said Ah Chee, a powerfully built midfielder, was in a similar boat to Hitchcock, while Newton's development in 2013 had been impressive.

Hinkley insisted the club would stick by Renouf both next year and in the longer-term future.

"We thought the best thing for him was just to concentrate on getting his body right and know that the club is going to commit to him and give him the best chance, and not just with next year but continuing on after that.
