PREMIERSHIP defender Matt Suckling has been dropped by the Western Bulldogs for their Thursday night clash with Sydney.

The former Hawk, who played in the club's 2014-15 flags, has been left out for their trip to face the Swans after last week's win over Greater Western Sydney.

He is one of three changes for the Dogs, with star midfielder Josh Dunkley to miss at least six weeks with a syndesmosis ankle injury and Lin Jong also set to miss with an Achilles injury.

Rhylee West, Patrick Lipinski and debutant Louis Butler have all been brought in for the SCG clash. 

The Swans have also made three changes, with ruckman Sam Naismith returning from injury alongside Ben Ronke and Justin McInerney.

Colin O'Riordan and former Port Adelaide small forward Sam Gray have been omitted, while Tom McCartin will miss with concussion he suffered in last week's win over North Melbourne.
