FORMER Geelong swingman Mitch Brown says he has received some interest from clubs and is "as hungry as ever" to reignite his AFL career.

The 25-year-old had a standout year with VFL club Sandringham, kicking 23 goals in his 21 appearances this season and impressing in the Zebras' finals campaign in both attack and defence.

Brown told NAB AFL Trade Radio on Wednesday that he had held talks with several clubs about re-entering the AFL system via the NAB AFL Draft.

"I've spoken to a few which is hopefully some good signs that something may happen on draft day, but there's still a long way to go," Brown said.

"But if not, I'll just go back to the VFL again and try and give myself another opportunity next year.

"I've been training really hard throughout the year and I'm as hungry as ever to get on a list."

Brown, who was recruited with pick No.15 in the 2008 NAB AFL Draft, managed just 15 games in his six injury-interrupted seasons at the Cats.

Delisted at the end of 2014, he also spent time as a top-up player with Essendon in this year's NAB Challenge.

Brown has been invited to take part in the Victorian draft combine, which will be held at Etihad Stadium this Sunday.

The mature-age prospect said he had overcome the lingering shoulder injuries that had hampered much of his playing career to date.

He added that surgery midway through last year to remove a protruding screw that was causing pain had helped him regain his touch.

"I felt like my marking improved a lot this year, especially in the finals," he said.

"I feel like my marking is back to what is was earlier in my career."
