North Melbourne will be hoping for a better outing in Narrandera with the last match the club played at the ground ending unfavorably.

The Sydney Swans thrashed North Melbourne by 83 points in the Country Day game which was played on Sunday March 9 1986.

The win gave the Swans a great deal of momentum heading into the home and away season in front of an appreciative 9000 strong crowd.

The Swans were 90 minutes late to the ground after a flight schedule change in Sydney but the delay didn’t have any impact on full forward Warrick Capper who starred with seven goals.

For the Kangaroos, Phil Krakouer kicked two goals in a team which fielded current AFL chief executive Andrew Demetriou, assistant coach Darren Crocker and chief of football Donald McDonald.

Sydney 19.19(133) defeated North 7.8 (50)
