It's been a remarkable day for the North Melbourne Football Club with four major announcements made by chairman James Brayshaw at Aegis Park.

The Kangaroos announced a one-year extension to senior coach Brad Scott's contract and confirmed their captain Brent Harvey had signed for another year. But the good news didn't stop there with Brayshaw revealing the club had also re-signed major sponsor Mazda and apparel sponsor Blades.

"It is a significant day for this football club and we are delighted to make these very important and exciting announcements as we continue our path towards a bright and prosperous future," Brayshaw said.

While Brad Scott still has another year left on his contract, Brayshaw said it was important for the club to sure up its long-term future with him at the helm.

"We are very confident and pleased in Brad Scott as the leader of our club and the direction he has taken with our young side. The next few years shape as some of the most important in our long and decorated history and we had no hesitation to extend his contract for another year."

For Brent Harvey, 2012 will be his 17th season of AFL football.

"Already our games record holder, Brent has showed no signs of slowing down. As captain and one of our most important players, it was vital for us to ensure he stays with us for another year. He is a tremendous leader and his re-signing should give our players, members and sponsors a massive boost."

The timing of Scott and Harvey's announcements couldn't be better for North Melbourne with its major sponsor Mazda also extending its already long association by another two years.

"The loyalty Mazda has shown this football club for more than a decade has been enormous and we cannot thank it enough for its contribution and unbelievable support.

"Mazda is an industry leader and we value its partnership with us, which has been nothing short of extraordinary."

Mazda Australia Managing Director Doug Dickson echoed Brayshaw's sentiments saying, "Mazda's relationship with North Melbourne now spans 13 years and it is with great pleasure that we extend the relationship with a new multi-year sponsorship deal. We look forward to working with the entire North Melbourne family as they strive for success on the field and work with the community off it."

Brayshaw was also delighted to announce North's apparel sponsor Blades had extended its deal and will provide the players and the club with the highest quality on and off-field gear for at least another three years.

"Blades has shown an enormous level of commitment and its dedication to our club and brand has been first class," Brayshaw added.

"Blades are a great fit and willing partners of the North Melbourne Football Club. We will continue to deliver exciting new merchandise ranges that are available from the Roo Shop. We look forward to continuing a long, prosperous and vibrant association with North Melbourne." Said Blades National Sales and Marketing Manager Britt Homewood.
