SYDNEY Swans co-captain Jarrad McVeigh will not play in Saturday night's clash against Essendon after electing to stay in Sydney to be with his wife as they nurse their sick child.
McVeigh's wife gave birth to the couple's first child, Luella, last week but the newborn is experiencing complications.
The Swans fully support McVeigh's decision and released a statement on Saturday evening asking for the couple's privacy to be respected.
Trent Dennis-Lane was called up to replace McVeigh.
