Mitchell is a strong, mobile player at either CHF or in the Ruck. He played all 3 International Rules test matches against Ireland but struggled throughout because of lower back stiffness. Mitchell's determination to play in front of his home town crowd in the final test in Perth assisted in nearly getting Australia a win in that game.

Even though Mitchell is too young for this 2004 AFL draft, he is one of the most impressive sized young players we have seen for a number of years. At 197cms, he moves quickly, is a strong mark, kicks well and dominated the U16 Championships in 2003.
