HAWTHORN has confirmed James Sicily is set to miss the next 12 months with a ruptured ACL.

The star defender injured his knee against West Coast on Sunday night (watch the incident in the player above) and scans have revealed the extent of the damage.

Sicily was helped from the field after a collision in the final moments of the side's round 12 loss.

Hawthorn's football manager Graham Wright said the club was shattered.  

"This is obviously devastating for 'Sis', his teammates and the wider Hawthorn family," Wright told hawthornfc.com.au.

The Hawks have slipped to third bottom on the ladder and the injury is insult to a miserable 2020 and a season that Hawthorn would rather forget.

Sicily has played 93 games for the Hawks over seven seasons.
