The High Performance Unit is responsible for the delivery of physical preparation services to players of the Essendon Football Club. The position of Head Trainer, within the High Performance Unit, will assist the Physical Preparation and Physiotherapy staff in the delivery of world class physical preparation programs at Essendon Football Club.

The High Performance Unit is responsible for the delivery of physical preparation services to players of the Essendon Football Club. The position of Head Trainer, within the High Performance Unit, will assist the Physical Preparation and Physiotherapy staff in the delivery of world class physical preparation programs at Essendon Football Club.

 

Salary is negotiable dependant on experience and qualifications.

 

Reports to: High Performance Coach/Physical Preparation Coach/Performance Dietician/Physiotherapy & Medical Staff

Responsibilities

 

The Head Trainer will perform or assist with the following tasks: 

 

·         Pre training and pre match taping

·         Pre training, pre match and recovery massage

·         Treatment protocols as directed by the club Physiotherapists

·         Co-ordination of rosters for trainers, masseurs and myotherapists

·         Provide a link between full time Football Dept and part time training staff

·         Integration of part time trainers into the elite physical preparation environment

·         Ordering and stock control of medical and related supplies

·         Development of ongoing professional development for part time training staff

·         Other duties as required

 

It is expected that the successful applicant participate in internal and external professional development activities and demonstrates a commitment to undertake ongoing formal education programs.

Qualifications

Essential:

·         Current CPR Certification

·         Current Sports Medicine Australia Sports First Aid (Level 2/Senior First Aid)

·         Level 2 Sports Trainer (or capacity to obtain with 6 months)

Desirable:

·         Undergraduate degree in Sport/Exercise Science or similar

·         Appropriate sports massage qualification

 Experience

·         Experience performing basic upper and lower limb taping

·         Experience providing pre event and recovery massage to athletes

·         Experience working with elite level team sport athletes

·         Experience in applying evidence based practice

·         Personal Qualities and Skills

·         Ability to work within a team environment

·         Capacity to delegate tasks and provide direction to part time training staff

·         Ability to work under pressure

·         Highly developed time management abilities

·         Desire for continuous improvement

·         Excellent written and verbal communication skills
