Ryan Jackson was the latest in a string of debuts for the Blues. Many people would know that he has worked hard after being rookied by Carlton. The following are some lesser known facts about Carlton’s newest debutant.

Carlton's 1097th Senior League player.

He will be the 5th Carlton senior player to make his Carlton senior debut against Sydney (South Melbourne) at the SCG on a Sunday. The other four are Justin 'Harry' Madden in 1983, Darren Ogier and Stephen Silvagni both in 1985 and Tim Powell in 1993.

135th Carlton player to debut against Sydney/South Melbourne. 51 of these played in a victory, 3 in a draw and 81 with a defeat. The last time was in Round 3, 2006 when ex swan Jason Saddington made his Carlton debut against his old side.

Three of Ryan's teammates in his debut game also made their Carlton debut against Sydney in Trent Sporn, Barnaby French and Jarrad Waite. Sadly, Barnaby French played his last game on the weekend meaning he bookends his career for Carlton with games against Sydney. Others on the Carlton list to debut against Sydney are Jason Saddington and Chris Bryan.

Only the second Ryan (as a Christian name) to play for Carlton seniors the other is his teammate Ryan Houlihan. There have been four Ryan's as a surname to play for Carlton, Chris (2 games and 3 goals in 1902-1903), Arthur (4 games in 1904), Pat (1 game in 1913) and Kevin (1 game in 1958).

The 3rd Jackson to play seniors at Carlton, Percy played 1 game for 1 goal in 1918 and Syd Jackson played 136 games and 165 goals between 1969 and 1976 and also played in 2 premierships (1970 and 1972).

The 11th Carlton senior player to debut in Guernsey number 38 at Carlton (first used by Carlton in seniors in 1954). The fourth to debut against South Melbourne/Sydney the others are Brian Henderson (in 1964), Jeff Trotman (in 1965) and Rohan Welsh (in 1992 and later mover to no.3). Shane Robertson has played the most Carlton senior games in number 38 with 80 and played in the 1987 premiership.
