NORTH Melbourne has cut six of senior coach Rhyce Shaw's assistant coaching team, headlined by senior assistant coach Jade Rawlings.

Rawlings has been let go despite having two seasons left on a three-year contract he signed with North ahead of the three-win 2020 campaign.

North Melbourne said in a statement that the changes coincided with several staff cuts in other departments as the club reshaped its business to cope with the impact of COVID-19 on the industry.

CALLING THE DROUGHT BREAKER Kangas hunt Roos to help Rhyce

After missing on Alan Richardson (now at Melbourne) as new coach Rhyce Shaw's senior assistant at the end of last year, the Roos targeted Rawlings to provide experience.

He was appointed to the position in September and reported to his brother, and Roos head of football Brady, who was appointed in July but started his official role in December.

Rawlings' sacking leaves the Roos scouring the market for senior experience around Shaw after he left his full maiden season at the helm exhausted.

Assistants Brendan Whitecross (forwards) and Jared Rivers (defensive) were also let go by the club earlier this year, having previously been stood down as a result of the COVID-19 cost-cutting.

Each AFL club's football department spending, excluding player salaries, will be slashed by more than $3 million to approximately $6.2 million in 2021.

It comes after the Roos delisted 11 players immediately after the season, placed forward Ben Brown up for trade and told Shaun Higgins he was free to find a new home.
