While Senior Coach Michael Voss is confident that his current crop of players are more than capable of securing the team's first win this Thursday night, he is buoyed by the knowledge that some of his other key players aren't too far from returning.

Josh Drummond and Xavier Clarke are among the more senior players who will have their sights set on a senior return over the next few weeks.

"Drummond won't play (seniors) this week, but he will be available (for the Reserves). We've decided to make sure he gets some game-time under his belt before he comes in and plays seniors," Voss said.

"Xavier was going to play this week as well (in the Reserves) but we feel that another week off will do him the world of good."

"The forunate thing with 'X' is that he's already had a full pre-season, so should be ready to go."

"So it's nice to know we've got some cavalry arriving, just not for this game. But hopefully they can come back over the next couple of weeks."

Meanwhile, Captain Jonathan Brown still has to wait another six weeks before being given the green light to return to the field.

"The doctors stipulate a particular time the bone needs to heal. Once that time frame is up, it's quite safe for him to be able to return," Voss said.

"He's almost being treated like a suspended player at the moment. He's going to be very frustrated because he can do full training and everything else with the playing group."

"That's a good thing for him too because we know that when we get him back, he'll be fresh and firing. His body is going to be feeling good," he said.

"I wouldn't want to be facing Jonathan Brown fresh in Round 9 or sometime around then. He'll be absolutely busting to finish the season off well."
