North Melbourne vice-captain Drew Petrie has capped off a stellar season with selection in the All-Australian team.

The 28 year-old was named on the interchange bench after a terrific year which saw him kick 48 goals and pull down 129 marks.

Petrie's performance comes off the back of an injury-riddled 2010, and he paid tribute to his wife and the club for a change of fortunes.

"She (Nicole) was great support, the club was great. I guess I'd only been injured once in nine or ten years of footy, so I'd been really lucky," Petrie told Fox Sports' Jason Dunstall.

"I just wanted to come back and have an impact at North Melbourne.

"We've got a good crew. We've had four blokes nominated tonight so it's a positive for the club."

Petrie is one of the favourites for North Melbourne's club-champion award, the Syd Barker Medal, which will be decided on October 5.
