Businessman Tom Elliott, the son of former Carlton president John Elliott, has confirmed his intention to form a new ticket to run against the current Blues board.

"I'm not applying to just get a position on the current board ... what I want to do, what I think is the right thing for the club, is to run as part of a new ticket," Elliott told the Ten Network.

Board members John Valmorbida and Bruce Mathieson resigned on Tuesday, with four new members - Stephen Moulton, Mark Harrison, Ralph Carr and Zac Fried - appointed.

That took the total number of directors to 12, but all but two of them must face the members in an election in February or March next year.
