THE MELBOURNE Football Club is saddened by the news of the passing of former director, Peter Hayes QC, overnight in Adelaide.

Peter was highly regarded and respected in the legal community.

He joined the Melbourne Football Club as a director in 2000, serving on the Club board until the end of 2003.

Peter played an important role in an era of change at the Melbourne Football Club, and was significant in building the stability and direction of the Club in the current day.

Peter was a lifelong Melbourne member, and a major financial contributor over many years.

The directors, officials, players and members of the Melbourne Football Club pass on their sincerest condolences to Peter’s family and friends.

Melbourne players will wear black armbands against the Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday.
