Josh Head is in the mix to make his AFL debut this Sunday against Essendon at Subiaco Oval.

Josh, 25, has been named on an extended seven man bench along with Clayton Hinkley and Andrew Browne who have both been recalled to the line up. Scott Thornton and Steven Dodd have also been recalled, named in back pockets.

Josh spent the 2002 and 2003 seasons on Fremantle’s Rookie List and rejoined the club when it used its solitary pick in the NAB AFL Pre Season Draft (No. 6 overall) to recruit the left footer.

A more mentally and physically maturer player than when on Fremantle’s Rookie List, Josh’s rebounding from the back line can quickly turn defence into attack. His run and long kicking also makes him a capable midfielder and forward.

The two omissions from last weekend’s line up so far are Michael Johnson, who suffered an ankle injury against St Kilda, and Jeff Farmer who has been omitted for missing a recovery session following last weekend’s match against the Saints.

This disciplinary action was taken based on a recommendation of the leadership group which was later endorsed by the match committee.

Jeff, who is available to play for South Fremantle in the WAFL this weekend, will be available for selection in the Fremantle side for round 15.
Sunday’s match will see Mark Johnson play his 200th AFL match and Brett Peake his 50th.

Earlier in the week Mark said how delighted he is with the move west and wants the chance to finally say goodbye to everyone at the Bombers, something he will be able to do after Sunday’s clash.

"It will give me closure. I was disappointed with how I had to leave Essendon as I didn’t get the chance to say goodbye to the staff, physios, doctors, players and the supporters who always treated me well," Mark said, who was taken by Fremantle in last year's NAB AFL Draft after playing 194 games with Essendon.

"I ended up here, I am playing my 200th game and whoever wrote the script did a good job because it's against the team that I used to play for. That's how it has panned out and I'm happy with it."

Bouncedown on Sunday is 2.40pm.
