JACKSON Trengove has been elevated into the Western Bulldogs' leadership group, just a year after arriving at the club.

The experienced Trengove is one of two players to be included in a six-man leadership group at the VU Whitten Oval, with tough midfielder Mitch Wallis also brought into the fold.

Easton Wood will remain the club's captain for a second successive season, while Marcus Bontempelli also retains his position as vice-captain.

Trengove, 28, was a member of Port Adelaide's leadership group before crossing to the Western Bulldogs as a restricted free agent at the end of the 2017 season.

He and Wallis replace departed duo Jack Redpath and Jordan Roughead, with Lachie Hunter and Jason Johannisen keeping their places in the leadership positions.

CLUB LISTS COMPARED Oldest? Youngest? Most experienced?

"To have an influence on the group and to get the tick of approval from the boys and the coaching staff in my second year at the club is a big achievement," Trengove told the club's website.

Being a little bit older and a little bit more experienced, I'll be able to be a sounding board for the younger players.

"We've all got different personalities and different styles of leadership. I think we'll be able to form a really strong group and be able to lead this football club going forward."

Wood, the club's premiership captain from 2016, retains his role as full-time skipper for the second straight year, having replaced Robert Murphy in the position last season.

"It's really special to be able to lead any group, but I think with this group, we've got a really exciting young bunch," Wood said.

"Jackson and Mitch are both really different and unique characters and they'll both bring their own strengths.

"They'll both lead in different ways, but be great additions to the group."
