Stephen Powell: As a kid I barracked for Collingwood.

Stephen Powell: I hope so ... I don’t know if I’m in or not, but I’m definitely hoping to play!

Stephen Powell: My debut was my most enjoyable game ... in 1997 against the West Coast Eagles at the WACA.

Stephen Powell: No, I’m happily married!

Stephen Powell: I’m doing a Master of Commerce degree and I also work one day a week.

Stephen Powell: My favourite player would have to be Luke Ball.

Stephen Powell: As a Collingwood supporter, I liked to watch Darren Millane and Peter Daicos ... also Tony Hall from Hawthorn and Dean Kemp from the Eagles.
kyliepockets: Stephen, who do you think has improved the most down at the Club this year?
Stephen Powell: I think our most improved would have to be Matty Maguire ... he’s been sensational this season.

Stephen Powell: The boys are eager and desperate to win the game ... there is a good feeling around the place!

Stephen Powell: Not really ... no superstitions that I regularly adhere to.

Stephen Powell: Gee that’s tough ... sorry, nothing springs to mind!

Stephen Powell: No, that was one of the numbers available when I came across from Melbourne (where I wore number 7).

Stephen Powell: I was born in Melbourne, but lived in Adelaide and Sydney before coming back to Melbourne at the age of 12. I lived in the Hawthorn/Camberwell area.
trent: Would you like to take on the role of being Captain?
Stephen Powell: No, I think I would leave that responsibility to others at the Club!
mattyz_babe: Who is the hardest opponent you have ever had?
Stephen Powell: Dean Kemp from the Eagles is the toughest opponent I’ve played on. Of the current players, Andrew McLeod is pretty hard to stop.
trent: Do you have a nickname that friends or family call you?
Stephen Powell: ‘Coastie’ ... it’s an old gag!

Stephen Powell: It’s a pretty open field, but I think Nigel Lappin from Brisbane.

Stephen Powell: Get into investment banking or a similar field.

Stephen Powell: Definitely in the midfield.
Cliff: How's Aaron Hamill doing with the knee? Is he cut up about not being able to play?
Stephen Powell: He was very disappointed to miss out last weekend. I’ll find out tomorrow, but from the papers’ it seems he won’t play this weekend.

Stephen Powell: They were all thrilled and honoured.
trent: Who are your best mates down at the Club?
Stephen Powell: My best mates are Aaron Hamill and Jason Blake.
SainTsBaBe: At the start of the season did you set any goals? If so, have you achieved them yet?
Stephen Powell: At the start of the year the goal was to win a Premiership ... we're in the finals’, but we haven’t achieved the goal yet!

Stephen Powell: No idea ... there are plenty of things we're concentrating on now before worrying about that!

Stephen Powell: Max Hudghton talks a lot on the field.

Stephen Powell: Yes, that was always my dream as a kid, and I’m thankful I’ve been able to live that dream.
what: Who is your favourite opponent?
Stephen Powell: The opponent who is always a challenge is Adam Simpson from the Kangaroos.

Stephen Powell: Two ... if I’m lucky!

Stephen Powell: I missed a season with a groin injury.

Stephen Powell: Definitely ... he’s a chance to become a regular - he's got the skill, and he just needs to work hard in the Summer to cement a spot in the team.
SainTsBaBe: If you had the chance to start your footy career over again would you do anything differently?
Stephen Powell: No, not really ... I’m happy with the way my career has panned out.
SainTsBaBe: What do you like the most about playing for the Saints’?
Stephen Powell: I like being able to play footy with some incredibly talented players.
Aurora888: Is there a lot of rivalry between the Reserves’ players for a spot in the senior team?
Stephen Powell: It’s very competitive ... I wouldn’t call it rivalry, but definitely very competitive.
Cliff: What advice would you give to anyone wanting to pursue a career in football?
Stephen Powell: Basically, work as hard as you possibly can in trying to improve your game....
what: What is your favourite footy ground?
Stephen Powell: The MCG is my favourite ground to play on.
