STAR West Coast defender Jeremy McGovern is set to miss the next two weeks with a groin injury, but the Eagles will be bolstered by the return of Josh Kennedy and Shannon Hurn for Sunday's Western Derby against Fremantle.

McGovern limped off during the second quarter of last week's 97-point loss to Geelong at GMHBA Stadium.

Subsequent scans have shown that the injury isn't too serious, but the Eagles still expect him to miss games against Fremantle and Hawthorn.

"He's likely to miss a couple of weeks," Eagles football manager Craig Vozzi said.

"It could have been a worse scenario, so we'll take a couple of weeks at this stage and go from there."

Kennedy missed last week's loss to Geelong with an ankle injury, while Hurn has been sidelined since injuring his calf in round four.

Both are expected to be available for selection, along with Jack Petruccelle (hamstring).

If Hurn is able to line up for game No.291 this week, he will break Dean Cox's games club record.

"Josh pulled up sore with that ankle, but the week off has been terrific for him," Vozzo said.

"He did a bit of training yesterday and expecting him to main train and be available for selection if he gets through, which we expect him to.

"Shannon and Jack Petruccelle have both undertaken a similar rehab regime for the calf and hamstring, respectively.

"They both signed off their relevant medical testing and strength and conditioning testing last weekend.

"All being well they'll get through training this week and be available for selection."

Goalsneak Jamie Cripps will need to pass a fitness test on his sore ribs if he is to play against the Dockers.

All-Australian forward Liam Ryan (shin bone stress) could be back within a month.

"He's doing some cardio work behind the scenes," Vozzo said.

"Hopefully (he) will get some time (on the training) ground in the next week or two, and then probably another couple of weeks from there, so probably a three or four-week process from here."
