ALTHOUGH the NAB AFL Trade Period is still almost a week away, with the season now behind us trade talks ramped up on a number of fronts on Monday.
Free agency begins on Friday but clubs will wait until 10am next Monday to actually start making trades.
AFL.com.au's Trade Winds will provide a round-up of the latest action every morning until the end of the Trade Period on Thursday, October 20.
Hartlett hunt hots up
The chase for out-of-favour Port Adelaide midfielder Hamish Hartlett will hot up this week when he meets Victorian suitors he hopes can revive his career.
The Adelaide Advertiser is reporting Hartlett, 26, will tell the Power by the end of the week which club he would prefer to go to.

Hartlett is contracted until the end of 2021, but the length of contract is not expected to be a hindrance in negotiating a deal.
He knocked back offers from Richmond and North Melbourne before extending his current deal last year.
The prospect of Hartlett heading to the Gold Coast now seems remote, as it's believed the 127-game midfielder would prefer to play in Melbourne or stay with the Power.
The Suns have interest in another Port midfielder though in Brendon Ah Chee, whose younger brother Callum is already on their list.
Tuohy getting more interest
Geelong has joined the chase for dashing Carlton defender Zach Tuohy.
With the Blue already in North Melbourne's sights, The Age is reporting the Cats have added their name to the list, although it's unclear whether they have tabled an offer.
Tuohy has a three-year offer to remain at the Blues and a four-year deal to go to the Kangaroos, the report says.
For the Cats to lure Tuohy across, they would likely have to free up some salary cap space with a trade that could involve exciting forward Steven Motlop.
Suns move in on Hanley
Gold Coast was always going to be an active team during this trade period, and its interest in Brisbane Lion Pearce Hanley is intensifying.
The Courier Mail reports the Suns met with Hanley's management on Monday afternoon.
With Dion Prestia and Jaeger O'Meara both requesting trades to leave the Suns, Gold Coast is desperately chasing midfielders, and despite a poor season by his standards, Hanley is well on their radar.
Hanley's manager Paul Connors told NAB AFL Trade Radio earlier on Monday the Irishman would be happy to stay at the Lions but would also be open to looking at other offers if the right one came along.
As reported exclusively by AFL.com.au, Chris Fagan will be announced as the Lions' new coach on Tuesday, and will have to make quick decisions on the future of both Hanley and captain Tom Rockliff.
