SETANTA O'hAilpin is back.

The player who caused a storm of controversy in early February will run out for Carlton for the first time this season after surviving Friday afternoon's final selections.

O'hAilpin, 26, has been named on the bench and appears likely to provide cover for ruckman Sam Jacobs, who goes out with a thigh injury.

It's a phoenix-like rise for the Irishman whose career appeared in limbo following the incident that saw him punch and kick teammate Cameron Cloke in an intra-club match.

The Blues have made four changes in total and are further strengthened by the returns of Heath Scotland, Andrew Carrazzo and Michael Jamison.

Shaun Grigg's bad luck continues with an ankle injury ruling him out this week while Richard Hadley and Mitch Robinson have been omitted.

Hadley is an emergency along with Joe Anderson and Steven Browne.

The Western Bulldogs have made two changes for the clash with Jarrad Grant and Robert Murphy in for the suspended Jason Akermanis and Stephen Tiller, who has been omitted.

Tiller is joined by Andrejs Everitt and Guy O'Keefe on the emergency list.

Melbourne has regained skipper James McDonald from injury, but loses Brad Green for some time with a broken jaw.

Russell Robertson is edging closer to an AFL return after being named as an emergency along with Kyle Cheney and Addam Maric.

Adelaide has made three unforced changes for Sunday's clash with the Dees at the 'G with Ivan Maric, Robert Shirley and Brad Symes all paying the price for last week's loss to the Cats.

Coming into the side are ruckman Jonathon Griffen, youngster Myke Cook and important utility Scott Stevens.

Shirley is an emergency along with Brad Moran and Jarrhan Jacky.

Geelong has recalled veteran Darren Milburn and defender David Johnson for the clash against the Lions at Skilled Stadium.

They come in for Cameron Ling (achilles) and Tom Lonergan (omitted), who remains on standby with Nathan Djerrkura and Ryan Gamble.

The Brisbane Lions have called on youngsters Lachlan Henderson, James Polkinghorne and Tom Collier for the difficult journey.

Jamie Charman's injury leaves the Lions short-handed in the ruck while Tim Notting and Cheynee Stiller have been dropped.

Albert Proud, Pearce Hanley and Scott Harding are the emergencies.
