THE AFL advises the Match Review of Friday's Semi Final between the Geelong Cats and GWS GIANTS, during Week Two of the 2021 Toyota AFL Finals Series has been completed. No charges were laid and there were two further incidents that required a detailed explanation.

Incidents assessed:

The incident between Geelong's Tom Hawkins and GWS GIANTS' Lachie Whitfield from the second quarter of Friday night's Semi Final between the Geelong Cats and GWS GIANTS was assessed. Whitfield marks the ball in the GIANTS’ defensive 50 where he is met by Hawkins and high contact is made. It was the view of the MRO that there was insufficient forceful high contact to constitute a reportable offence. No further action was taken.

The incident between Geelong's Joel Selwood and GWS GIANTS' Josh Kelly from the third quarter of Friday night's Semi Final between the Geelong Cats and GWS GIANTS was assessed. Selwood has possession of the ball on the half back flank for Geelong and is met by Kelly. Selwood raises his arm to fend and high contact occurs. It was the view of the MRO that there was insufficient forceful high contact to constitute a reportable offence. No further action was taken.
