Hayden Ballantyne – 5
Set up the first two scores in the first term with brilliant kicks into space. But his night turned for the worse when he gave away a free kick, albeit thanks to a very soft decision, to gift the Hawks a goal and allow them back into the game. Kicked a goal at the start of the third but otherwise had an ordinary night.
Michael Barlow – 5
Failed to have much of an impact. Collected 17 disposals and kicked a goal. But he missed another set shot and took a short option that didn't travel 15m when inside 50.
Zac Dawson – 4
Couldn't stem the tide as the Hawks wreaked damage from marks inside 50 and set shots. Was beaten comfortably in a one-on-one with Ben McEvoy that led to a goal.
Matt de Boer – 6
Worked hard through the midfield and at half-forward, finishing with 20 disposals. Produced a couple of key intercept marks but his kicking let him down at different stages.
Nat Fyfe – 7
An almost unbelievably brave performance given he was playing on one leg. Fyfe started on the bench and came on after the Dockers had kicked the first two goals. He copped a knock on his troubled lower left leg in his first contest and limped badly thereafter, struggling to move freely all night. Despite that he gathered 11 touches in the second term. He finished with 24 and a game-high nine clearances.
Jon Griffin – 7
Fought hard all night and proved a good inclusion. Clipped the post with a key shot for goal after the half-time siren but kicked a big goal in the third term. Contributed an aerial presence.
Stephen Hill – 5
Was well held for most of the night, only finishing with 19 touches. Lined up on his brother at the opening bounce but spent a lot of time running with Isaac Smith. Had a quiet opening half by his standards but kicked a key goal in the second term.
Garrick Ibbotson – 7
Provided a steady head in defence, taking some good intercept marks. Took 15 marks and had 24 disposals.
Michael Johnson – 5
Has been well below his best during this finals series. Was again unable to provide his usual run and drive from half-back and finished with just 15 disposals.
Chris Mayne – 5
Worked hard but missed a critical set shot in the opening term that should have put the Dockers 16 points clear. He kicked an important set shot in the third term but otherwise had little influence.
David Mundy – 7
Won plenty of football at the coalface but struggled to find the space to really do some damage with his foot skills. He was Dockers' leading ball-winner with 27 touches and six clearances.
Tendai Mzungu – 6
Tried hard throughout the night, willing himself to contests and working all over the ground. Misplaced some important kicks early but had 10 contested possessions, one of only three Dockers to reach double figures.
Lachie Neale – 5
Had a quiet night in the context of a season that saw him shortlisted for All Australian. Gathered 17 possessions to half-time but had just three in the third term when Sam Mitchell took control of the game in the midfield.
Matthew Pavlich – 5
Ran James Frawley ragged early, pushing up the ground and was influential in the Dockers first two goals. Had a quieter second term but nabbed a goal with a snap over his head. Faded badly after half-time and spent a lot of time on the bench.
Danyle Pearce – 5
Had 21 disposals and was bright early but did not have his normal impact forward of centre. The Hawks were able to limit the space he was given.
Aaron Sandilands – 7
Had another big game in the ruck with 40 hit-outs as the Dockers dominated the clearances. He took two important contested marks and created a goal for Pavlich by winning a contest in the goal square.
Tom Sheridan – 4
Made a horrible error in the last quarter, dropping a mark in defensive 50 that led to a Cyril Rioli goal.
Laid a key tackle on Bradley Hill in defensive 50 in the second term, winning a holding-the-ball decision that started a chain of possessions that led to a key goal.
Lee Spurr – 5
Spent a fair amount of time on Rioli and gave him a lot of latitude. Rioli was magnificent in the first half and kicked three critical goals. Spurr did some good work offensively gathering 27 disposals but was beaten overall.
Nick Suban – 3
Started as the substitute. Had little impact after coming on at three-quarter time.
Cameron Sutcliffe - 4
Had a quiet night. Spent a bit of time on Bradley Hill when he moved forward. His poor kick in the last quarter led to Cyril Rioli's third goal.
Matt Taberner – 2
Had a very poor night. Dropped some key marks and lost a couple of contests. Did have one goal assist but was subbed out at three-quarter time.
Michael Walters – 7
Found a way to have an impact on the game despite drifting in and out. Kicked three goals out of the team's 10, most of them from half chances. Could have kicked four or five but in the end it would not have been enough.
