Geelong star James Kelly believes limiting forward entries will be the key to a Cats win against Hawthorn on Saturday night.

Speaking on the popular CATS TV program CAT CHAT, Kelly said that the Cats are aware of the potency of Hawthorn’s forward stars.

“We have to starve their forwards of opportunities,” Kelly said.

“If we can defend well and play the game in our forward half it will take out their forwards. We know they’re dangerous so that will go a long way for us winning the game.”

Kelly also noted how the Hawks have improved since the clubs clashed seven weeks ago.

“I think they have improved since last time we played them, so we are going to have to be right on top of all areas of the ground,” Kelly said.

“We know that it is going to be a fantastic crowd and we are looking forward to the game.”

Kelly was joined on CAT CHAT by host Chris Appleby and the Herald Sun’s Scott Gullan. The trio also discussed the big talking points in footy including:

  • Geelong’s big win over the Dogs
  • Matthew Scarlett’s move forward
  • Brad Ottens and Nathan Vardy’s good form
  • What it is like to be subbed off
  • Racial vilification
  • Collingwood sending players to Arizona
  • The upcoming clash with the Hawks
  • The French Open tennis final
