The Allies squad for the 2022 NAB AFL National Championships – Boys U18 has been released.

A total of 46 players have been named in the Allies squad, comprising players from the Northern Territory, NSW, ACT, Queensland and Tasmania.

The squad includes 18 players from NSW/ACT, 15 from Queensland, eight from Tasmania and five from Northern Territory.

Six members of the 2022 NAB AFL Academy feature in the Allies squad, including Lachlan Cowan, Jaspa Fletcher, Jason Gillbee, Anthony Munkara, Ryley Sanders and Jed Walter.

The squad will assemble in Sydney for a training camp at Tom Wills Oval on Saturday June 11, before playing a North vs South match on Sunday June 12.

The Allies will then compete at the 2022 NAB AFL National Championships – U18 Boys, which will be played across the country mostly throughout June and July.

The NAB AFL National Championships are the highest level of state and territory representative football, as part of the AFL’s Talent Pathway Program. The competition will feature the most talented boys from across Australia who are the next generation of stars in the men’s game.

The Allies will be coached by Cameron Bernasconi, who was recently appointed head coach of GWS Giants’ AFLW team. He also serves as coach of the GWS Giants Academy.

Nathan Warren (Tasmania Devils), James Gellie (Brisbane Lions Academy), Dale Eames (Gold Coast Suns Academy) and Brent Renouf (NT Thunder Academy) have been named as Bernasconi’s assistants.

AFL Talent Ambassador Kevin Sheehan, said: “The Allies squad represents the best young talent from NSW, ACT, Northern Territory, Queensland and Tasmania.

“The players selected in the Allies squad have displayed great promise in their state-based talent programs this year and represent the future of the game.

“The football potential within this squad highlights the continued growth of Australian football across the country and we look forward to seeing these players compete at the upcoming NAB AFL National Championships – Boys U18.”

Squads for all teams will be announced in the lead up to the 2022 NAB AFL National Championships – Boys U18. Live streaming and broadcast details will be confirmed closer to the Championships.
