Victoria Metro and Victoria Country have announced their squads to compete at the 2022 NAB AFL National Development Championships - U16 Boys.

30 players have been selected in the Victoria Metro squad, while Victoria Country will take a 28-player squad into the Championships.

The NAB AFL National Development Championships are the highest level of state and territory representative football for U16 footballers, as part of the AFL’s Talent Pathway Program. The competition will feature the most talented boys from across Australia who are the next generation of stars in the men’s game.  

The 2022 NAB AFL National Development Championships - U16 Boys will feature 10 teams. They include: Brisbane Lions, Gold Coast Suns, GWS Giants, Northern Territory, South Australia, Victoria Country, Victoria Metro, Sydney Swans, Tasmania and Western Australia.

The first match will be played on Saturday 11 June, when Victoria Metro and Victoria Country meet at IKON Park. The first bounce takes place at 11:00am

Collingwood 2010 premiership star Travis Cloke has been appointed coach of Victoria Metro. Cloke, who also serves as Eastern Ranges head coach, will be assisted by Matthew O’Connor (Calder Cannons), Anthony Phillips (Oakleigh Chargers) and Monty Stuart (Northern Knights).

Victoria Country will be led by three-time Geelong premiership player David Wojcinski, with Eamon Gill (GWV Rebels), Michael Bright (Geelong Falcons) and Allan Chandler (Gippsland Power) serving as assistants.
