ADELAIDE defender Matt Jaensch has suffered what appears to be a serious knee injury during the clash with St Kilda at Adelaide Oval.

Jaensch made an innocuous looking turn during the third quarter and collapsed to the ground clutching his left knee.

He was immediately taken from the ground on a stretcher in a clear state of distress.

It's another injury the Crows can barely afford with Rory Sloane (cheekbone), Brad Crouch (broken foot), Richard Douglas (foot), Josh Jenkins (hip) and Cam Ellis-Yolmen (hamstring) currently sidelined, and Brodie Smith suffering concussion after a head-clash with Nick Riewoldt on Saturday.
