MELBOURNE has reacted to its huge loss to Essendon by dumping four players, including Jack Watts, for Saturday's clash with West Coast at the MCG.

Eagles stars Daniel Kerr and Mark LeCras are among a number of big inclusions in the teams for round three, with Steve Johnson back for Geelong and Heath Scotland returning to Carlton's line-up.

Along with Watts, the Demons have dropped David Rodan, Sam Blease and Daniel Nicholson from the side that lost to the Bombers by 148 points.

The Dees have made five changes in all, with defender Tom Gillies sidelined by a groin problem.

Melbourne has brought in Rohan Bail, Luke Tapscott, Neville Jetta, Cameron Pedersen and youngster Michael Evans.

Kerr has finally shaken off his knee problems and will play his first game of the season for West Coast, while Mark LeCras has made a miracle recovery from the broken arm he suffered in the derby against Fremantle in round one.

Fremantle has regained small forward Hayden Ballantyne from suspension for Friday night's match against Essendon at Patersons Stadium. Youngster Hayden Crozier has been dropped.

The Bombers have made two changes, with Travis Colyer and Elliott Kavanagh replacing Mark Baguley (ankle) and Jackson Merrett (omitted).

Johnson, who had knee surgery on the eve of the home and away season, is the headline inclusion in Geelong's side to play Carlton at Etihad Stadium on Saturday night.

The Cats have also included Jordan Murdoch, but they have lost star midfielder James Kelly to a calf injury. Mitch Brown has been omitted.

The Blues have made four changes, with Jeremy Laidler, Levi Casboult, Tom Bell and Josh Bootsma all dumped from the team that lost to Collingwood last Sunday.

Scotland will play his first game for the season after serving a club-imposed suspension, while Aaron Joseph and Shaun Hampson are also back. Father-son recruit Dylan Buckley will make his debut.

North Melbourne has brought in Sam Wright and former Gold Coast player Taylor Hine for its home game against the Sydney Swans in Hobart on Saturday afternoon.

Kieran Harper and Ben Jacobs have both been dropped.

The Swans have lost Rhyce Shaw to an abdominal strain and have replaced him with Tony Armstrong.

Gold Coast has lost Tom Murphy (shoulder) and Dion Prestia (hip) for Saturday night's QClash against the Brisbane Lions at Metricon Stadium.

Defenders Greg Broughton and Jackson Allen are back for the Suns.

Greater Western Sydney has made just one change for its clash with St Kilda at Manuka Oval in Canberra on Saturday evening.

Sam Reid has come into the Giants' side, replacing Rhys Palmer (calf).

Key forward Tom Lee and 2012 draftee Nathan Wright will both play their first games for the Saints, who have lost Adam Schneider (hamstring) and Sean Dempster (hand) to injuries.

Richmond has included former Adelaide half-forward Chris Knights and draftee Nick Vlastuin in its 25-man squad for Sunday's clash with the Western Bulldogs at Etihad Stadium.

However, both Knights and Vlastuin have been named on the Tigers' extended bench. Robin Nahas has also come into their squad.

The Dogs have brought Lukas Markovic, Easton Wood and draftee Jackson Macrae into their extended squad.

Hawthorn has lost star midfielder Brad Sewell (hamstring) for its blockbuster against Collingwood at the MCG on Sunday.

The Hawks have brought four players – Kyle Cheney, Taylor Duryea, Jack Gunston and Sam Grimley – into its 25-man squad.

The Magpies have been hit harder by injuries, with ruckman Darren Jolly (ribs) and skipper Nick Maxwell (broken wrist) both out of the big clash.

Midfielder Dale Thomas and Ben Hudson are among five ins for Collingwood, who is unbeaten after two games.

Thomas has been named on the wing and Hudson in the ruck.

Domenic Cassisi, Brent Renouf, Robbie Gray and Andrew Moore ?are into Port Adelaide's extended squad for Sunday's Showdown against Adelaide.

Jarrad Redden is the only player out of the Power's line-up at this stage.

The Crows have brought in Graham Johncock, who booted seven goals in the SANFL last weekend.

They have also included Tom Lynch and Sam Kerridge ?in their squad.
