The Swans Reserves have suffered their third loss of the season after going down to Eastlake by 18 points on Sunday afternoon. 
 
The scores were level at half time, but Eastlake set up their win in the third quarter and kept the Swans goalless in the last term, during which the Swans had trouble with the slippery conditions.
 
Nic Fosdike played well in his first half of football back from injury and Peter Everitt, in his second game back, showed he was ready to be considered for senior selection next week. Matthew Laidlaw left the field in the second quarter with a hamstring injury and did not return for the remainder of the game. 
 
Ben Mathews was the Swans’ best player again, playing on ball, and Luke Brennan played well in both the forward and back line. Tim Schmidt, who also played on ball, Brendan Murphy, at halfback and Peter Faulks, at full back, were also in the Swans’ best. Top-up player Brendan Edwards was good for the Swans in defence.  
Brennan kicked two goals in the first quarter and Mathews and Henry Playfair, in his first game in Swans’ colours, also goaled to put the Swans seven points in front at quarter time.
 
In the second term, the Swans kicked three goals while Eastlake managed four. Matthew Beckmans, Patrick Veszpremi and Everitt were the Swans goal scorers and at half time both teams sat on 45 points.
 
By three quarter time, Eastlake had drifted nine points into the lead after a four goal to two quarter. Only Veszpremi and Matthew O’Dwyer managed to goal for the Swans and the two goals were the Swans’ last for the game, as they were kept goalless in the final term.      
 
The Swans round five clash with Queanbeyan is on May 4 at 9.50am at the SCG and will be played as the curtain raiser to the Sydney and Western Bulldogs game.
 
Queanbeyan are currently sitting second on the AFL Canberra ladder and beat the Swans Reserves by 18 points in Round One.
