COLLINGWOOD and Box Hill Hawks have brought in a host of quality players for the opening practice match of Week 2 of the Smithy’s VFL pre-season.
The Magpies and Hawks will clash at AIA Centre on Thursday night from 7:00pm.
Collingwood has increased its squad from the one that was thrashed by Carlton last week, naming 27 players, naming five inclusions and four players going out of the team.
The Magpies have brought in the springheeled Ash Johnson, VFL co-captain Lachie Tardrew and fellow star Campbell Lane, while we will see the Silvagni name in black and white for the first time with Ben to run out for Carlton’s arch-rival.
Reef McInnes, Oleg Markov and Josh Carmichael have been added to Collingwood's AFL team for their clash with Hawthorn at University of Tasmania Stadium, while important utility Sam Glover also misses out.
Box Hill has been more active with its changes, calling up a host of stars among 11 alterations to the 29 that lost to Geelong last Thursday.
Patrick Naish will make his first appearance in brown and gold, while top draftee Josh Weddle is also slated to play alongside Geelong recruit Cooper Stephens, Carlton VFL addition Joel Trudgeon and key Hawks Stu Horner, Ed Phillips, Jai Serong and Jaylon Thorpe.
The brothers Hustwaite will have to wait for their first meeting with Hawks draftee Henry to miss a clash with Magpies captain Campbell, while Denver Grainger-Barras is the only other key out for Box Hill in a vastly strengthened outfit.
The match starts at 7pm, with free entry.
