AFTER three straight losses the Suns will be desperate to arrest their form slide and reinstate their top-eight claims with a win over the Cats. They almost pinched a remarkable comeback win over the Eagles last weekend, but all of a sudden the season's Cinderella story has the speed wobbles and looks shaky. They follow the Cats match with fixtures against Hawthorn and Collingwood and need to produce four strong quarters to challenge an improving Geelong. Last week Chris Scott's men showed signs of improvement from a difficult fortnight with a thumping win over lowly St Kilda. How they deal with former teammate and favourite son Gary Ablett might go a long way towards determining a winner.

1. In four clashes between the clubs, Geelong’s average winning margin is a whopping 71 points. They have scored 140 points a game.

2. Gold Coast has two of the top three disposal getters in 2014. Ablett is ranked first with 384, averaging 32 a game, and Dion Prestia is third with 353 at 29. Mathew Stokes is the top Cat, ranked 12th.

3. The Suns have been closer than the scores might show against Geelong. In two of their clashes they've led at half-time, while scores were level at three-quarter time in the most recent meeting.

4. The respective captains are two of the best clearance players in 2014; Ablett is ranked first with a total of 98, while Joel Selwood is sixth with 80.

5. Gold Coast has had more clangers this season than any other side, averaging 47.8 a game, while Geelong is 10th with 44.1 a game.

6. Ablett has no problems playing his old team. While he continues to be ranked No.1 in the AFL Official Player Ratings, he is also the top ranked Sun against Geelong and averages almost 31 disposals and seven clearances in three matches.
