CARLTON midfielder Mitch Robinson will miss Sunday week's clash with Adelaide after entering an early guilty plea to a charge of striking St Kilda's Jack Newnes on Monday night.

The incident happened in the third term of an often fiery match when tempers boiled over between the pair and Newnes pulled Robinson's jumper over his head.

Robinson struck out at the young Saint and connected, catching Newnes with what the Match Review Panel assessed as medium impact.

He would have risked a two-match suspension if he had chosen to challenge the charge at the AFL Tribunal.
