AS MANY AFL Fantasy coaches predicted last season, the Tigers were led by Dustin Martin (FWD/MID, $573,000) who averaged 104, followed by Brandon Ellis (MID, $568,000) after he averaged 103 on the back of career-best form.

Captain Trent Cotchin (MID, $506,000) was below his best, finishing the year with an average of 91 and Bachar Houli (DEF, $481,000) emerged as a legitimate defender option, scoring 87 points per games while displaying elite durability by not missing a game.

Brett Deledio (FWD, $530,000): The depleted list of popular dual-position players makes Deledio's stocks rise significantly, to the point of almost being a walk-up selection. Despite an injury-interrupted season, he managed to average 95 last year, which means he has not dropped under that mark over the past four years, reaching a high of 110 in 2012. In the last 15 games of the season, he managed eight tons, highlighted by a 137-point haul where his outstanding Fantasy ability was on full display with 30 possessions and two goals.

Reece Conca (FWD/MID, $310,000): Injury restricted Conca to just two games last year where he managed an average of 63. Given he averaged 81 and 77 in the two years prior, there is no doubt he is underpriced, especially given his discounted cost (due to lack of games played) and the added flexibility of DPP status.

Dustin Martin (FWD/MID, $573,000): Don’t ask if you can afford Dusty, the question is can you afford not to have him? The answer is no. After a career-best season averaging 104, he will certainly come at a cost, but so he should, given he is a legitimate contender to be the highest scoring forward in 2016. Last year, he had eight scores over 110 among his 13 tons - they're match-winning contributions when you're trying to knock off your mates who didn’t select him. A bonus of picking Martin is his durability, missing just four games over his six-year career.

Chris Yarran (DEF, $374,000): There are a lot of question marks over how Yarran will score with his new club on the back of a disappointing year with the Blues, where he averaged just 68. Although he has never been a huge scorer (his best season average was a 73) his talent is unquestionable, and a Fantasy-friendly role could be long overdue under Damien Hardwick.

Adam Marcon (MID, $125,000): If there are any injuries in the Tiger midfield, Marcon was selected in the rookie draft to provide some ready-made depth to the squad. Over the past two years he has averaged 23 touches and seven tackles for Williamstown which would flag potential cash-cow status.

Trent Cotchin (MID, $506,000): Cotch didn’t look himself last year - in fact it was his lowest return for the past five seasons and as an AFL Fantasy Ambassador he would be fully aware of the need to bounce back! Despite only missing one game (his second in the past five years) there were constant question marks about his fitness after uncharacteristically quiet games where his possession count was down. We know what he is capable of after averaging 110 in 2012, so if he ticks all boxes in the pre-season and looks back to his best, he is underpriced.

Alex Rance (DEF, $393,000): Despite being arguably the best defender in the game, there is no value selecting Rance as he is fairly priced based on his 2015 average of 71. Given that he has averaged between 70 and 72 for the past five seasons, it is fair to say we can expect much the same, so there are better Fantasy options.
