SYDNEY is firming as the home for talented Irish teen Paris McCarthy for the 2023 AFLW season.

The 19-year-old is a dual sport athlete, playing Gaelic football for county Kerry and basketball for East Tennessee State University on a sports scholarship in the USA.

McCarthy played in last year's All-Ireland final, with her Kerry ultimately losing to Meath, for whom North Melbourne's Vikki Wall and Fremantle's Orlagh Lally played.

McCarthy's fellow countrywomen Jennifer Dunne and Dayna Finn are also weighing up offers from clubs to play AFLW later this year.

Dunne, a 21-year-old midfielder from Dublin LGFA, has played in three All-Ireland wins and is currently one of the biggest names in Gaelic football.

Womens.afl understands that Dunne is a player in demand, speaking with several clubs as she contemplates a temporary move to Australia for the eighth AFLW season.

Two of Dunne's Dublin teammates, Sinead Goldrick and Lauren Magee, have had a crack at footy, the former part of Melbourne's recent maiden premiership.

Meanwhile, Finn, a dual sport athlete across both Gaelic football and basketball, is studying her Masters in Education on a sports scholarship at Trinity College in Dublin where she plays basketball. Finn spent her footballing years with Mayo county, but has focused more on her basketball career recently.

It is understood that Finn is currently considering an offer from a Victorian club.

Last season a record 22 Irish players were on AFLW lists, with that number expected to grow in the coming season as more clubs look to supplement their playing groups with Irish talent.
