SCANS have cleared West Coast defender Xavier Ellis of a serious calf injury.

There were fears for the Eagles' recruit after he was subbed out of Saturday night's loss to Port Adelaide before quarter-time.

Ellis had ice applied immediately to his right calf and it was feared that he may have suffered a recurrence of the calf tear that saw him subbed out of the 2012 Grand Final for Hawthorn and all but ruined his 2013 season.

But scans on Monday cleared Ellis of serious injury, and the strain is so minor that he could still be considered for Saturday's clash with Carlton at Etihad Stadium.

There was also some positive news for Shannon Hurn (knee) and Mark LeCras (forearm).

There is a possibility that both could recovery from their respective injuries in time to play before the team's bye in round nine.

West Coast faces Carlton next Saturday before hosting Fremantle in round seven and Greater Western Sydney in round eight.
