COLLINGWOOD defender Ben Reid completed a light training run on Thursday as the Magpies prepare to make at least three changes for Friday night's clash against Richmond.

Dane Swan will miss most of 2016 due to a broken leg, with the surgeon still to advise the Magpies on the immediate treatment of Swan's Lisfranc injury.

Jarrod Witts did not train and is unlikely to play after splitting the webbing on his hand in Saturday night's loss to the Sydney Swans, while Steele Sidebottom is suspended.

However, possible replacements in Reid, ruckman Brodie Grundy, forward Jeremy Howe and midfielder James Aish trained with the squad ahead of Friday night's blockbuster, as did veteran premiership defender Alan Toovey.

Match preview: Collingwood v Richmond

Full-back Nathan Brown, who was under an injury cloud due to a sore hamstring, trained on Thursday as did Marley Williams who copped a knock to the knee against the Swans.

Alex Fasolo looked to be suffering no ill effects after crashing to the ground when flying for a mark, and participated in marking drills at training.

Football manager Neil Balme told the club website the 23-year-old did not suffer concussion despite the fall.

"He seems to have recovered pretty well and I'm pretty sure he'll get the all clear to play," Balme said.

The Magpies remain without key players Jamie Elliott (back) and Travis Varcoe (hamstring).

Collingwood is looking to bounce back after the Swans thrashed it on Saturday night by 80 points.

Despite good NAB Challenge form, the Magpies were outplayed and have now won just two of their past 12 home and away games after winning eight of their first 11 in 2015.
