SOUTH Australian clubs are rallying around those affected by the bushfires that have ravaged the state in the past week.

Fire crews are working to contain the Adelaide Hills bushfire, which has resulted in more than 12,000 hectares burnt and over 30 homes destroyed or badly damaged.

Crows ruckman Sam Jacobs, forward Taylor Walker and Matthew Jaensch have thrown their support behind the Country Fire Service, visiting the station in One Tree Hill on Tuesday to show their appreciation for their efforts.

Adelaide is also running an online auction to raise money for the Bushfire Emergency Relief Fund and CFS Foundation, with players donating signed guernseys and football boots to the cause.

In less than 24 hours, the auction has already raised more than $2000, with more items to be added in the coming days.

Jacobs told the club's website the players felt compelled to contribute to the cause.

"Like most people in SA, we’ve seen the devastating effect of these fires," he said.

"A few of the boys got together and said to the club, ‘we want to help. What can we do?’

"We visited the CFS volunteers just to have a chat and say thanks and, hopefully, put a smile on a few faces after a difficult few days for them.

"'Tex', 'Jaenschy' and I are all country boys and understand the importance of community, which is also a big focus for our footy club.

"We hope our supporters get behind the online auction and help raise some money for the CFS, and importantly the people and families who have lost their homes, businesses and livestock in the fires."

The online auction ends at 11:30pm on Friday January 16.

Crows laud new time trial king

Meanwhile Port Adelaide is in the process of looking at several initiatives to show its support.

"The Port Adelaide Football Club, plus our members and supporters are very keen to help support those affected by the bushfire that continues to burn in the Adelaide Hills," Matthew Richardson, general manager of consumer business and marketing told AFL.com.au.

"We’ve had numerous suggestions from our members who are keen to help in some way, and our players have also expressed their willingness to assist.

"The whole state has been affected by this and our thoughts are with those families who have lost homes and property. We would also like to commend the amazing CFS volunteers who have been heroes in fighting the fires and protecting people’s property and look forward to finding the appropriate way to recognise and support these fantastic members of our community."

The Power will confirm their plans in the coming days.
