JONATHAN Brown has been ruled out of Saturday night's match against the Sydney Swans at the Gabba with general soreness.

The Brisbane Lions champion joins Swans superstar Lance Franklin (knee) as absentees from the match.

Brown has been replaced by Mitch Golby, who is the Lions' substitution.

Brown has played the first six games of the year, but in a move believed to ease him through the entire season, will sit out Saturday night.

The 32-year-old has been in solid form so far in 2014, kicking 13 goals.

In other selection news, Brownlow medallist Adam Goodes will start his first game in 10 months after being named on the Swans' interchange bench.

Goodes played just over a quarter against Melbourne last week in his return from a knee injury.

Brandon Jack is the Swans' sub.
