JARMAN Impey has made his way to Hawthorn after the Hawks traded pick No.33 to Port Adelaide as part of a complex deal for the talented speedster on Thursday.

The trade also involved a swap of later picks, with the Hawks receiving pick No.67 this year but giving up pick No.61 and next year's fourth-round selection.

Impey has signed a three-year deal, with the Hawks targeting the 22-year-old for his versatility.

"His outstanding speed and endurance will be a really valuable asset and his ability to play at both ends of the ground is a great advantage," list manager Graham Wright said on the club's website.

"Jarman is a competitive character, who goes hard at the footy, which makes him an exciting acquisition and a terrific addition to our list.

"Jarman has plenty of football ahead of him and we can’t wait to see what he can produce in the brown and gold."

The Hawks will focus on improving their draft position after trading away their first two picks during last year's Trade Period to ultimately secure Jaeger O'Meara and Tom Mitchell.

Their first pick in this year's NAB AFL Draft comes in the third round at No.43.

Port Adelaide is also without a first-round pick this year after sending it to the Brisbane Lions last year, but hold picks No.30 and No.33 in the second round.

Impey was taken by Port Adelaide with pick No.21 in the 2013 NAB AFL Draft.

The 22-year-old has played 75 games for the club over four seasons.

He has found success as a small forward after starting his career as a shut-down back pocket.

In March, Impey was convicted and fined for three driving offences after crashing into four parked cars while driving to an ATM from a party hosted by teammate Angus Monfries.

Impey fled the scene and could not be contacted by Port Adelaide for several hours, resulting in a $5000 fine and one-match ban by the club.
