All the teams for Round 8 in the rebel VFLW.

Lambert-Pearce medallist Jordan Mifsud will return to Port Melbourne’s team for the challenging rebel VFLW Friday night clash with an in-form Western Bulldogs at ETU Stadium.

Mifsud, who shared the medal in a three-way tie last year while playing for Box Hill Hawks, has managed just two games so far this year due to a broken hand and then a quad injury but will be a valuable inclusion against the Ellie Blackburn-led Bulldogs, who trounced the Hawks last week to stamp their 2024 credentials.

Premiership players Courteney Bromage and Kaitlyn O’Keefe have won their spots back after being dropped last week, with that fate befalling dual flag-winner and 2022 Rohenna Young medallist Fed Frew after her 50th game last week.

The Borough has named a debutant, with Boronia’s Rachael Slater to play her first game as Nayely Borg misses with a knee injury and Richmond trio Charley Ryan, Laura McClelland and Molly Eastman are declared unavailable.

Courtney Ugle returns for the Bulldogs alongside Jaime Henry, with one of her Bombers’ flag captains Mia-Rae Clifford being unavailable and Stephanie Asciak rested.

Elisha King returns to the North Melbourne team that edged out Southern Saints by a point last week to resurrect its finals hopes. She replaces Brooke Sheridan who has landed an AFLW contract with Essendon during the week.

Stella Bridgewater, Eloise Freeman and Neve Crowley return for a Seagulls team that drew with Casey Demons but lost Zoe Day for two weeks with a hamstring injury.

Collingwood will take on Geelong at Deakin University without nine of the 11 AFLW players that landed a remarkable victory against Sydney last week, including Sabrina Frederick and Muireann Atkinson, the pair that set up Kaitlyn Day’s remarkable last-kick matchwinner.

Stacey Livingstone, Ruby Schleicher, Lauren Butler, Lucy Cronin, Sarah Rowe, Nell Morris-Dalton and Tarni White also go out, but the Magpies still have five listed players, with Alana Porter and Eliza James remaining, Eleri Morris back in, Imogen Barnett selected for her first game since 2022 and No. 8 draft pick Georgia Clark, a forward from Tasmanian club Glenorchy, to play her first game for the club after two at North Melbourne last year.

The Cats will become just the second club after Darebin to reach 100 VFLW matches and have named Brisbane Lions trade acquisition Bella Smith for her club debut, with the inside midfielder replacing Sammy Gooden, who has been ruled out for the season with an abdominal injury, and Denby Taylor (hand).

Like Collingwood, Box Hill Hawks made a whopping nine changes for their annual trip to Wonthaggi to play the Southern Saints, with AFLW quintet Charlotte Baskaran, Ainslie Kemp, Hayley McLaughlin, Laura Stone and Mikayla Williamson pulled out, while experienced defender Louise Stephenson will play her second game for the Hawks at this level.

Four Eastern Ranges youngsters will make their debuts, including Olinda-Ferny Creek’s Grace Belloni who is averaging 24.5 disposals in the Coates Talent League, Monbulk’s Georgia Knight who kicked three goals last week and has eight for the year and Vermont pair Evie Parker and Molly Paterson who are both going at better than 18 touches a game in the CTL.

The Saints have lost star midfielder Deanna Jolliffe, former Hawk Zoe Barbakos (quad) and Tessa Boyd (concussion) for the Gippsland sojourn.

Darebin regains one co-captain in Caitlin Bunker but loses the other in Steph Simpson with a broken nose for its clash with neighbour Carlton at Genis Steel Oval on Saturday.

The Blues have given an opportunity to Montmorency’s Matilda Fitzgerald, who has averaged 11.8 disposals for Northern Knights, with Holly Ridewood and Zoe Hargreaves heading the other way and Octavia Di Donato suspended.

Casey Demons have lost four players to take on Essendon in the Bombers’ return to Windy Hill, with Sophie Casey suspended for a game, Grace Campbell called out by Melbourne and Indi Makai and Tylah Burn being injured, while Charlotte Brewer returns to the Oakleigh Chargers.

The Bombers have Ellyse Gamble and Sophie Molan among their inclusions, with former AFLW player Danielle Marshall among the three omissions from the team thrashed by GWS last week.

All matches in the 2024 rebel VFLW season will be live streamed free via the AFL website, AFL Live Official App and VFL App.
