RICHMOND forwardShane Edwards will take his striking charge to the AFL Tribunal on Tuesday in abid to play in Saturday night's MCG clash with Essendon. 

Edwards wascharged with a level three striking offence following a clash with Liam Sumnerfrom Greater Western Sydney at Skoda Stadium on Sunday. 

Based on video evidence and a medical report from the Giants, the incidentwas assessed as reckless conduct (two points), medium impact (two points) andhigh contact (two points). 

This is a total of six activation points, drawing 225 demerit points and atwo-match sanction. He has an existing six-year good record, reducing thepenalty by 25 per cent to 168.75 points and a one-match sanction. 

There is no real downside for Edwards to contest the charge at the tribunalbecause even if the charge is sustained, he misses just one week and will beavailable to play the following week in Richmond's first final in 12 years. 

All other players charged by the Match Review Panel have accepted their penalties.Essendon's Heath Hocking will miss the clash with the Tigers, while GoldCoast's Steven May will miss the match against the Giants on Sunday at MetriconStadium. 

West Coast skipper Darren Glass has accepted his $900 sanction forwrestling, while Hawk Brad Sewell will accept his $1900 fine for making contactwith an umpire.
