PORT Adelaide may have secured its coach for 2010 but is still trying to finalise the futures of Daniel Motlop and Steven Salopek.

The pair has flagged an interest in leaving the club, with the Power hoping they decide to stay on under new coach Matthew Primus.

Motlop, originally from the Wanderers Football Club in the Northern Territory, has spent five seasons at Alberton after crossing from North Melbourne.

He has played 117 AFL matches, including 70 for Port Adelaide, but managed just nine in 2010 as he battled injury, suspension and personal problems.

Motlop has family in Western Australia and Port Adelaide football manager Peter Rohde admitted the gifted forward wanted to make a move.

“He’s expressed a desire to get to Perth if he could, but I’m not sure whether we’ll be able to help him with that,” Rohde told afl.com.au.

“He’s contracted for next year ... we expect he’ll be staying unless something else comes up.”

Salopek, originally from Melbourne, is weighing up whether to return home for family reasons.

The 25-year-old has battled chronic shoulder problems in recent seasons but is likely to be in-demand given he is off contract.

The club expects an answer on his future in the coming week.

As for trade week, the Power is intent on hanging onto its picks and continuing to stock its young list.

Rohde said the club would not be an active player during the trade period, and also refuted suggestions Port had a strong interest in luring Carlton big man Sam Jacobs to the club.

“Everyone seems to think we have [an interest], but we’re happy with the young ruckmen we’ve got,” he said.
