Originally hailing from Launceston, John Hamilton played two games for Melbourne in 1966 before his senior career was curtailed by knee injuries.  Nonetheless, he remained an active part of the Club, both as a member of Coterie, and as a part of the Past and Present Players’ and Officials’ Association.

Sadly, John passed away last weekend, after a year long battle with prostate cancer.  His widow, Ann, strongly in support of the Club’s affiliation with the Prostate Cancer Foundation Australia, agreed that the promotion of regular medical checks was vital to emphasise, and in recognition of the need for ongoing research, the Hamilton family has made the decision to ask for donations to Prostate Cancer in lieu of flowers at John’s funeral.

All at the Club offer their most sincere condolences to the Hamilton family, and join them in supporting the ongoing battle against prostate cancer into the future. For more details about Prostate Cancer Foundation Australia please visit their website www.prostate.org.au
