CALLAN Ward and Phil Davis will share Greater Western Sydney's captaincy in the club's second AFL season.

Ward and Davis filled the role alongside Luke Power in the Giants' debut campaign, and it proved an inspired choice, with the trio playing 62 of a possible 66 games last year.

Following Power's retirement, Ward and Davis – who are both just 22 years old – will now hold the role together.

Midfielder Ward played 20 matches last season following his move from the Western Bulldogs, averaging 24.4 possessions and five tackles a game.

He ended the year by taking out the inaugural Kevin Sheedy Medal for GWS' best and fairest player.

Former Adelaide defender Davis was the only Giant to play all 22 games in the club's first season, finishing sixth in the best and fairest count.

Tom Scully is also settling into life as a Giant, named as the club's vice-captain for the coming season.

Scully was viewed as a potential captain following his big-money move from Melbourne in late 2011, but he was ultimately only named in the leadership group for the club's first season.

He has improved his leadership skills, however, and has been elevated to the role of vice-captain for 2013, with the leadership positions voted on by the players and coaches.

"I certainly wasn't expecting this," Scully said.

"But I’m very humbled to be voted by my teammates as vice-captain and look forward to working closely with Phil and Callan."

Scully is in the midst of a big pre-season, having already added 3kg of muscle to his frame, and his attitude and approach has been noted by his teammates.

"The feedback from our playing group was that Tom is a true professional who is highly respected for the way he prepares himself," coach Kevin Sheedy said.

"But he also does a lot of little things that often go unnoticed during games.

"Together with Callan Ward and Phil Davis they form a very talented leadership group that will help guide our exciting young playing group in their second year in the AFL."
