BACKS
Scott McMahon (North Melbourne)
– Continued his underrated season, with 20 disposals (including 11 contested) to be among his side's best against Fremantle. He finished with an equal game-high six rebounds.

Matthew Scarlett (Geelong)
– Brilliant yet again on the big stage, marshaling the defence with his usual poise and purpose. Scarlett racked up 27 touches against the Bulldogs and had five rebounds – an equal team-high.

Nick Maxwell (Collingwood) – The skipper continued his fine recent form and was outstanding against West Coast. Maxwell claimed a career-best 29 disposals and took 12 marks, including three contested.

HALF BACKS
Beau Muston (Hawthorn)
– After three knee reconstructions, the 22-year-old finally played his first AFL match against Melbourne – and what a performance it was. He claimed 31 disposals and kicked a goal, producing one of the great debuts.

Sam Fisher (St Kilda)
– One of the game's best defenders took on superstar Lion Jonathan Brown. Although Brown kicked three majors, Fisher kept the Lions captain to only eight touches.

Josh Drummond (Brisbane Lions) – Claimed a round-high 10 rebounds and again showed why he is one of the best mid-sized defenders in the game. His ball-use was excellent, as he finished with 27 touches.

CENTRES
Joel Selwood (Geelong)
– Continued his remarkable season with his sixth consecutive 30-plus disposal effort. Selwood finished with 32 disposals, including 13 in the first quarter, plus five inside 50s.

Dane Swan (Collingwood) – A massive figure in the win, the ball-winner amassed 36 touches, including 20 to half-time. His contested and clearance work was excellent, as was his tackling. Swan also had six inside 50s.

Jason Winderlich (Essendon) – The dasher's past month has been the most impressive of his career. He has averaged 25.25 disposals. Against the Tigers he had 28 touches and kicked two goals in a best-on-ground display.

HALF-FORWARDS
Leon Davis (Collingwood)
– Returned to his native state and put on a show – finishing with a career-best 32-disposal performance and kicking three goals including two in the final term to seal the win. Davis also had six inside 50s.

Nick Riewoldt (St Kilda) – May have had just 11 touches, but he finished with four goals, from six scoring shots, plus had two assists. Riewoldt also took three contested marks from his eight grabs.

Colin Sylvia (Melbourne) – Played his finest AFL match and was best-on-ground, despite playing in a losing side against the Hawks. Sylvia won 37 disposals and kicked four goals, including three in a row during the third quarter.

FORWARDS
Jason Akermanis (Western Bulldogs)
– In his 300th AFL match, he was his side's best and rivalled Geelong's Joel Selwood and Gary Ablett for best-on-ground honours. He collected 25 disposals and booted four goals to continue his great 2009.

David Hale (North Melbourne) – Played his best match of the year so far, kicking five majors. He also took seven marks, including two contested. Hals has now booted 16 goals this season.

Steve Johnson (Geelong) – On the back of a dominant display last round, when he claimed 31 touches, the mercurial forward produced an opportunistic performance with five goals – his best haul in 2009. He now has 26 goals to his name.

FOLLOWERS
Paddy Ryder (Essendon)
– Continued to enhance his status with another top display in the ruck, in the absence of David Hille. Ryder finished with 20 touches, won six clearances and laid seven tackles. He also took an outstanding grab over the pack.

Michael Doughty (Adelaide) – Managed to quell the influence of Carlton superstar Chris Judd. Doughty finished with 26 disposals as Judd claimed 19, which was pivotal in Adelaide's win.

Gary Ablett (Geelong) – After missing two matches with an adductor injury, the superstar bounced back with another excellent display – 38 disposals, including 25 in the first half and 19 contested possessions. He also had a game-high seven clearances.

INTERCHANGE
Drew Petrie (North Melbourne)
– Playing a Matthew Richardson-like role on the wing, the big man was pivotal in the win. Petrie claimed 16 touches, including eight contested, plus a goal, as he helped keep Freo giant Aaron Sandilands at bay.

Brett Kirk (Sydney Swans) – The co-captain led his side beautifully in its win over the Power, collecting a game-high 32 disposals. Not surprisingly, his hard-at-it work was a feature – he laid eight tackles. Kirk also chipped in with two goals.

Tyson Edwards (Adelaide) – The veteran ball-winner shows no sign of slowing down and this was again evident, after his 32-disposal effort, including 11 in the first term. He had six inside 50s and was involved in three scoring assists.

Leigh Montagna (St Kilda) – Continued his highly-consistent season with an equal game-high 33 disposals, including 11 in the final term, when the game was in the balance. He also had eight inside 50s and kicked two goals.
