DANE Swan's manager has denied he has a fractured relationship with Collingwood, but says he is sick of Eddie McGuire "playing the man".

Liam Pickering told Melbourne radio SEN McGuire had spent Friday "cooking me whenever he could" following Swan's controversial interview with Channel Nine on Thursday night.

Pickering called McGuire a hypocrite, saying there was little difference between Swan's interview and the interview McGuire did with then-Melbourne forward Liam Jurrah on television in 2012.

In an at times heated interview, Pickering said he would take the Pies to the AFL Players' Association if the club fined Swan $5000.

"I'm accusing Eddie McGuire of being a hypocrite, absolutely I am," Pickering said.

"Because just twelve months ago, [McGuire thought] stuff Melbourne's protocols, but just twelve months on he's wanting to fine Dane Swan $5000 – a sanction that is just absolutely ridiculous. Ridiculous."

Pickering said Swan had sought advice from McGuire before doing the interview, asking what questions Channel Nine may ask him.

Pickering said that during that conversation McGuire said to Swan he hoped Channel Nine were paying Swan for the interview.

High profile Pie Scott Pendlebury is also part of Pickering's stable of stars, and the manager said he was on good terms with the people at Collingwood he dealt with, highlighting Pendlebury's contract extension in 2012 as evidence.

Pickering denied talk of a relationship breakdown with Collingwood chief executive Gary Pert, saying the pair did not do business together.

"You would have to ask him [Pert]. I don't deal with him," Pickering said.

"You can ask him, and Eddie McGuire's gone out of his way to spend a day yesterday doing the media rounds cooking me wherever he could … I've got no interest having a blue with Eddie McGuire or Gary Pert.

"To be perfectly honest, I couldn't care less.

"I think at the moment it just seems to be one-way street stuff with McGuire and, I'm sorry, he doesn't have anything to do with me.

"I deal with their football operations manager Geoff Walsh, who is a very good operator, we've had terrific dealings in the past, you can see that."

Pickering said Swan was yet to receive a fine from the Pies, but was expecting one, before again criticising McGuire's actions.

"Eddie McGuire takes the long handle … and spends the day bagging me. I'm sick of it, I've had a guts full."

Pickering said he had not spoken to McGuire since the Swan interview went to air.

He also denied Swan's relationship with the Pies was under strain.

"That's 100 per cent wrong.

"Now the relationship, after this, between Eddie McGuire and myself will be deteriorated to a stage where I don't know where it will go.

"To be honest I'm a bit over it anyway, so it doesn't worry me."
