To become a first-time member of your chosen club is a true sign of loyalty. But to retain membership for over 50 years brings a new meaning to the word.

President Jeff Kennett recently attended the 2010 Member Loyalty Certificate Presentation held at Waverley Park, where he presented members holding 40 and 50 years of consecutive membership with a personally signed Loyalty Certificate.

What made the function truly significant was that the inception year for members with 50 years of loyalty was the breakthrough 1961 season, bringing home the Club’s first premiership cup. This was obviously the topic of many conversations.

Following the function, members took part in a commemorative photo, followed by a tour of the Waverley Park facilities, and finishing with a walk through the Hawthorn Museum, which was seen by some as their own personal life story.

The Hawthorn Football Club Loyalty Program also recognised members reaching significant membership milestones of 10, 20 and 30 years.

Members reaching these milestones have been sent their personally signed Loyalty Certificates in the mail.
