REIGNING premier West Coast has extended the contracts of captain Shannon Hurn and spearhead Josh Kennedy for an extra year.

The pair are now contracted until the end of 2020.

Hurn was appointed skipper in December 2014 and has seen his side make finals every season since.

The backman turned 31 last September but is showing no sign of slowing down, having been awarded his first Virgin Australia AFL All Australian blazer in a career that has spanned 13 seasons.

"It's nice to get it locked away so I can focus on the season," Hurn told westcoasteagles.com.au.

“With the JLT series starting on Friday, things start to build towards the start of the season and that's our sole focus."

Kennedy, also 31, was limited last year by leg injuries but managed to line up in 14 games.

He booted nine goals across three finals.

The dual Coleman medallist is recovering from left shoulder surgery but is expected to play in round one against Brisbane at the Gabba.

"It’s good to get it sorted early along with 'Bunga' (Hurn)," Kennedy said.

"I'd like to thank West Coast for another opportunity and I'm really excited about another year with this fantastic club and group of lads."
