ESSENDON chief executive Xavier Campbell has guaranteed John Worsfold will be the club's coach in 2020.

There's been ongoing speculation about Worsfold's future despite him being contracted until the end of next year.

The Bombers qualified for the finals with a porous percentage of 95.4 after a series of lopsided defeats, and exited at the first hurdle in a 55-point defeat to West Coast at Optus Stadium.

Ben Rutten is continually mentioned as a senior coach-in-waiting, while fellow assistant coaches Rob Harding and Paul Corrigan won't be at Tullamarine next season.

However, Campbell emphatically dispelled any doubt about Worsfold's job.

"John will be coaching Essendon next year," Campbell told Channel Seven.

"Obviously, as a football club, like a lot of clubs, we're reviewing how our season has gone and we have been for the last six weeks, like good clubs do, to try and find improvement.
